About One Edgbaston
Edgbaston is a constituency of nearly 90,000 people living in four wards across south west Birmingham. Comprising the wards of Bartley Green, Harborne, Quinton and Edgbaston it is a safe, clean, healthy and neighbourly environment to live and work. The organisations contributing to this website, including the Safe and Clean team of the City Council, the local Primary Care Trust, the Police and Fire services as well as the Strategic Partnership itself are all committed to maintaining the best local services and resources, and continually improving what needs to be addressed.
As the images across this website reveal, Edgbaston is, in general, green and attractive; the largest urban conservation area in the UK. The country park at Woodgate Valley, the reservoirs at Edgbaston and Bartley Green, the golf courses, the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and more all give a sense of space and provide venues for relaxation. Bordering directly on the city centre, Edgbaston also hosts vibrant restaurants, bars, pubs and clubs as well as offering a wide range of shops and retailers.
Edgbaston continues to be highly regarded for the breadth and quality of its educational opportunities. The constituency has more secondary schools in both public and private sectors than any other in Birmingham. The historic campus of the University of Birmingham is to be found here, the Newman FE college and the teaching faculty of Queen Elizabeth Hospital. There are many others. Four Dwellings School offers the community a range of facilities at its Community Leisure Centre. There is more Sports and Leisure provision across the constituency, including Shenley Court, Harborne Pool and Bartley Green.
The Constituency Director for Edgbaston is Jagwant Johal. He and his management team are based at Edgbaston Constituency Office, 1st Floor, Harborne West, 326 High Street Harborne B17 9PU. They can be contacted via edgbaston@birmingham.gov.uk
